SAN FRANCISCO’S RECALL FEVER
After the initial effort to recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin failed to gather enough signatures this summer, the second recall campaign submitted 83,000 signatures to qualify for the ballot. That’s over 30,000 more signatures than required, which makes this election all but set for next year. To determine whether or not San Francisco will keep District Attorney Boudin in office, voters will answer a simple “yes” or “no” question. In the event he is recalled, Mayor London Breed would choose an interim replacement.

ANOTHER MILESTONE FOR THE COVID-19 VACCINE
Starting this weekend, CVS and Walgreens announced they will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines at select locations for children ages five through 11. This comes on the heels of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) major decision last week that authorized the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to include children ages five through 11. The clinical trial studied for this approval found that a 10-microgram vaccine dose—a third of the dose given to everyone 12 and older—was 90.7 percent effective against symptomatic COVID-19 and showed no safety problems in children ages five through 11.
