
Several high-profile San Francisco and California races were decided in the June 2 primary election.
SAN FRANCISCO
Incumbents won re-election:
- Phil Kim – Board of Education
- Stephen Sherrill – Board of Supervisors, District 2
- Alan Wong – Board of Supervisors, District 4
- Matt Haney – State Assembly, District 17
- Catherine Stefani – State Assembly, District 19
- Kevin Mullin – U.S. Congress, District 15
- Congress, District 11: Scott Wiener and Connie Chan advanced to the November general election
- Judge race: Phoebe H. Maffei, prosecutor, will likely win over the public defender candidate
sf.citi Endorsed Measures: San Francisco voters aligned with recommendations supported by sf.citi, including passing Props A and B and the defeat of Prop D.
- Prop A passed — funding critical earthquake, fire, and emergency response infrastructure upgrades
- Prop B passed — establishing lifetime term limits for elected officials
- Prop C (likely to fail) — business tax decrease. While sf.citi supported a YES vote on Prop C, the outcome is expected and will not impact the broader business climate.
- Prop D (likely to fail) — voters rejected the proposed tax increase targeting large employers
STATEWIDE
- Governor: Early results indicate Xavier Becerra (D) and Steve Hilton (R) are likely advancing in the November general election
REGIONAL
- Oakland voters approved a small business tax exemption measure
- Sonoma and Marin voters approved extending the SMART rail sales tax
- Santa Clara County voters appear to support a new open space parcel tax
AT&T announced a $19 billion investment in California’s fiber and wireless infrastructure through 2030
- 4M+ additional homes and businesses to gain fiber access
- 1,200+ new cell sites planned statewide
- Total California fiber footprint expected to exceed 9 million locations
AT&T says the investment will support faster, more reliable connectivity across urban, suburban, and rural communities while transitioning away from legacy copper networks.
The company also stated:
- No customer will lose access to voice or 911 service
- Customers can keep existing phone numbers and devices
- Upgrade discounts will be available, including for California LifeLine customers
AT&T says the initiative will also support job growth, digital inclusion programs, and expanded connectivity infrastructure across California.
