Lyft Celebrates Five-Year Extension of Bike Program & Record-High Bikeshare Ridership

Lyft’s bikeshare program is expanding following a five-year contract extension between the City and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) through 2032. With record ridership, the program will add 1,000 new bikes and 60 new stations across San Francisco and the Bay Area, including 16 charging stations. Lyft will also expand its reduced-cost Bikeshare for All membership to Medi-Cal recipients, making the service more accessible. The investment builds on growing demand for bikeshare as an affordable way to connect to public transit and navigate the city.

Waymo Reveals New Robotaxi & Expands Service in California

Waymo is accelerating its California expansion. The company has revealed its next-generation Ojai robotaxi to riders in San Francisco and Los Angeles, with plans to expand to additional cities later this year. Waymo has also received approval to significantly broaden its service area across the Bay Area and Los Angeles, including communities from the East Bay to Sonoma County, as well as Sacramento and San Diego. The rollout will happen gradually as Waymo navigates new driving environments and addresses safety and traffic concerns.

 Apply by Sept 11: $150 Million Open Call for Ideas to Improve San Francisco

Xavier Becerra (D) finished at the top of the crowded primary field after gaining late momentum, with a notable boost from Eric Swalwell’s exit from the race. A former 12-term congressman, California Attorney General and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Biden, Becerra is running on expanding Medi-Cal, cracking down on price gouging and utility rate hikes, protecting abortion and LGBTQ+ rights, and regulating harmful uses of AI. He is endorsed by the California Democratic Party.

Launched by Crankstart and Lever for Change, Boundless San Francisco will award up to $150 million to organizations (anywhere in the world) with bold ideas to better San Francisco, with up to three awardees receiving as much as $50 million each to bring their proposals to life. Ideas could range from innovations that address the city’s most complex challenges to those that transform how we live, work, and connect.
