Dear sf.citi Members and Supporters:
As you may have heard, Federal Communications Chairman (FCC) Ajit Pai recently announced plans to repeal the Title II regulations, sometimes referred to as net neutrality, put in place by the Obama Administration. These changes would reinstate a “light touch” framework of oversight over internet service providers (ISPs) and, amongst other things, re-classify ISPs as information services and revise rules around ISPs prioritizing web traffic.
sf.citi has long been a proponent of a free and open internet and has consistently supported protection and preservation of the core tenants of net neutrality. While we strongly agree that there are significant issues facing many Americans and their access to high-quality internet access, we have concern with Chairman Pai’s approach. We welcome the opportunity to work with policymakers towards a more comprehensive solution for improving internet access and helping to close the digital divide while continuing to foster innovation in the startup industry and strengthening the backbone of our future economy. We implore Congress to step up and protect the importance of a free and open internet once and for all by codifying the main principles of net neutrality in a bi-partisan fashion.
Over 1,000 startups, companies, and members of the tech community have voiced opposition towards Commissioner Pai’s proposed changes through a joint letter entitled Startups for Net Neutrality. As a signatory of this letter, sf.citi supports finding a way to codify the importance of preserving net neutrality and promoting innovation across our ecosystem.
Join us by signing on today.
Signed,
The sf.citi Board of Directors
