Mark Farrell Elected Interim Mayor
In stunning fashion Tuesday night, the Board of Supervisors voted to appoint a successor (interim) mayor, choosing District 2 Supervisor Mark Farrell in a 6-3 vote. Mayor Farrell will serve as successor mayor until the June election and appoint a replacement to his now-vacant District 2 Supervisor seat. Farrell did not file papers for the upcoming mayoral race and, thus, is not eligible to run for mayor until November 2019. Mark Farrell is a long-time advocate and supporter of the tech community, who has worked with sf.citi on various projects over the years such as the Bay Area’s Commuter Shuttle Program and the Free Wifi in the Parks program. sf.citi congratulates Mayor Farrell on his success and are confident in his leadership of our city.
If Tuesday night is any predictor, the race to become San Francisco’s next mayor is guaranteed to be anything but boring. sf.citi plans to keep close watch of the mayoral race, so stay tuned for new developments throughout the months leading up to the election.
