Microsoft AI Training Initiatives
Microsoft is offering a series of groundbreaking artificial intelligence training initiatives to assist tech workers in gaining effective skills to adapt to a transformative workplace realized by the growth of AI. In partnership with LinkedIn, Microsoft has developed the Career Essentials in Generative AI initiative, which offers free coursework leading to a Professional Certificate in Generative AI. The curriculum comes in multiple languages and aims to empower individuals and communities worldwide to harness AI’s potential. Another noteworthy offering is the Learn AI Skills Challenge, which is active from July 17th through August 14th, 2023. This training program covers various aspects of AI across Microsoft products and services and involves four AI-themed challenges to develop essential AI skills. Participants receive a Microsoft Learn AI Skills Challenge badge and a certificate upon completing a series of enriching coursework. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with the local tech community, attend live sessions, network with fellow learners, and acquire in-demand AI skills that are consistent with the current job market. Additionally, Microsoft, Data.org, and GitHub have developed the Generative AI Skills Challenge, which was developed through a global grant for organizations aimed at training the workforce to use generative AI, emphasizing fair and community-led implementations with historically marginalized populations worldwide. The initial proposal deadline is August 15, 2023, with winners announced this Fall.
ASIAN PACIFIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION SUMMIT 2023
San Francisco’s tech companies are taking on a vital role as top sponsors and partners for the annual Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit — which will unite 21 economies from the Asia-Pacific region to foster a more open, resilient, sustainable, and peaceful future. Uber, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon, DoorDash, Salesforce, and other industry-leading Bay Area tech companies are exemplifying their dedication to global economic progress and cooperation by financially supporting and partnering with the APEC 2023 summit. World leaders, including President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, China’s President Xi Jinping, and Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, will be in attendance to discuss international concerns such as climate change, economic inclusion, and digital transformation. Under the theme of ‘Creating Economic Opportunity,’ the summit will also feature speakers conversing over the potential of collaboration and innovation in sustainability and resilience. San Francisco is proud to host this historic event, marking the largest gathering of world leaders in the city since the signing of the UN Charter in 1945. The exhibition will showcase pioneering technologies and solutions that drive equitable growth, further establishing San Francisco as a global destination for business, technology innovation, and positive change.
