Member of the business community,
Mayor London Breed and Board President Norman Yee have asked the Controller’s Office to recommend changes to the City’s business tax structure, for their consideration as they work towards a possible November 2020 ballot measure.
Ted Egan, the City’s Chief Economist, and I want to hear from businesses as part of this review process. Please join us at an initial kick-off meeting on February 6th from 4:00 – 5:30 in City Hall room 305. We will provide an overview of the existing structure, outline our approach to this project, and highlight some initial thoughts regarding possible changes. But most importantly we look forward to hearing your feedback on what about the City’s business tax structure works and doesn’t work. This meeting will be the start of an intensive process of engagement with the business community over the next 2-3 months.
Feel free to extend this invitation to others you think would value this work and have feedback to offer – the meeting is open to all who wish to attend. But space is limited, so please RSVP to maura.lane@sfgov.org.
Thanks, and we look forward to working with you on this important project.
Ben
