Venture capitalist Ron Conway is donating $40 million to help pay for the new outpatient medical building at the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay.
The donation was announced Saturday night at a gala in San Francisco to celebrate the imminent opening of the center.
The 207,500-square-foot facility that anchors the $1.5 billion hospital complex will host outpatient services for women, children and cancer patients and be named the UCSF Ron Conway Family Gateway Medical Building. Scheduled to open Jan. 26, the outpatient center is expected to draw more than 1,500 visits daily, and serve as a teaching facility. The rest of the complex is slated to open Feb. 1.
