WHAT: Today sf.citi, the San Francisco Citizens Initiative for Technology and Innovation, will welcome its 500th member company and announce a partnership with Project Homeless Connect. As part of its mission to harness the innovative power of San Francisco’s tech community as a force for civic action, sf.citi will engage tech employees across the city in support of Project Homeless Connect and work to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Throughout this year sf.citi will regularly encourage its members to support Project Homeless Connect with their time, money, creative talents and in-kind goods. sf.citi members will sponsor major Project Homeless Connect events, donate their talents to the Every Day Connect program and select from Project Homeless Connect’s existing menu of giving options.
Additionally, sf.citi will facilitate a partnership between Project Homeless Connect and its 500th member company, Neighborland. Neighborland hosts a unique online community message board that allows users to communicate and solve neighborhood problems. During today’s event, Neighborland will invite event attendees and volunteers to help answer the question “What can we, as a community, do better to help people experiencing homelessness?”
Neighborland will then use the obtained responses to develop a presence for Project Homeless Connect on its site and engage the broader community in a discussion around homelessness and in support of its initiatives.
The goal of both partnerships is to engage a new network of people in solutions to homelessness. Our 500 member companies represent over 25,000 San Francisco employees and our hope is to greatly increase Project Homeless Connect’s reach into a new thriving, tech community.
