Good Evening sf.citi Members,
I hope you had a nice holiday weekend.
I’m writing to you today to provide you with an update on our campaign strategy and Supervisor Haney’s Tech and Startup hearing at tomorrow’s Budget & Finance committee meeting.
Tech and Startup Hearing
Supervisor Haney will be convening a long-awaited Tech and Startup hearing at tomorrow’s Budget and Finance Committee meeting at 10:30 am. The Controller’s Office will be presenting their report on job numbers, growth/decline, and other trends. The Office of Economic and Workforce Development, the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Office, and Office of Small Business will also be in attendance to answer any questions from the public. As you know, sf.citi has been working closely with the Supervisor’s office to provide data to help inform this hearing.
sf.citi Campaign Strategy
As many of you know, we have been working in collaboration with community and City leaders to craft a campaign that will support San Francisco’s recovery needs. Ahead of our public launch and sign on, we are asking for your signature on the campaign below as a public supporter and signatory. We have already received sign-on from many sf.citi members including Salesforce, Microsoft, Google, Twitter, Airbnb, and Facebook. Please review our campaign below and provide your company signature to sign on in support of the campaign and the collective goals we’ve identified alongside our city leaders.
This will be a public campaign shared through our communication channels, webpage, and in the press. We will promote the campaign and recovery in a mid-fall event with the Mayor and other city leaders. This signature approval is due by Friday, September 17th to be included in our mid-fall announcement.
Thank you for your continued membership and please let me know if you have any questions.

sf.citi Campaign Strategy
As of today, most companies are pursuing a hybrid or permanent remote work model. Understanding the economic impact of this shift on San Francisco, sf.citi used the information gleaned from its year-long research towards a new effort—aiding in the collective economic revitalization of our City.
sf.citi is partnering with the collective small business and tourism industry, including SF Travel, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association (GGRA), Hotel Council, and the SF Council of District Merchants (SFCDMA), to activate our City and reinvest in our local economy. The goal is simple: activating companies and individuals to pledge their support and commitment to revitalizing San Francisco’s economy.
Activate and Build a Thriving Downtown
- Prioritize hosting conferences and meetings in San Francisco and contracting with local restaurants to cater these events by signing onto the San Francisco Travel Association’s #MeetLocal campaign.
- Help preserve the unique dining culture of San Francisco by partnering with and supporting local, independent restaurants through our program with the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, “Adopt a Restaurant.” The program is open to various local food service businesses such as restaurants, cafes, caterers, etc. Companies can partner with one or more restaurants. Partnership options can include but are not limited to:
- Commitment to ordering onsite food service from adopted restaurant(s) as well as from prior local caterers
- Commitment to provide stipends/coupons to employees to shop at adopted restaurant(s)
- Commitment to purchasing gift certificates from the adopted restaurant or café and give these to employees for dinner meetings/etc.
Invest in the City’s Future: Working to Eliminate the Digital Divide
Pledge to support efforts that work toward eliminating the digital divide. This includes but is not limited to:
- Supporting SFUSD through partnerships that provide tech literacy skills and opportunities; help expand access to technology at school; increase access to hardware; provide philanthropic support
- Supporting public and private programs and organizations that work to eliminate the digital divide
- Supporting organizations and facilities that provide free access to wifi for students
- Empower users by supporting organizations that provide tech literacy training and STEM education
Ensure A Safe and Welcome Downtown For All
Support the Mayor’s Street Wellness Response Team initiative, which provides medical and social service responses for people who require immediate assistance but do not have emergent behavioral health care needs. This new team will operate in conjunction with San Francisco’s Street Crisis Response Teams (SCRT), which will continue operating to address the needs of people experiencing behavioral health crises. This is part of the Mayor’s road map for public safety reform and will ensure that people who need immediate assistance will get the appropriate level of care they need.
