BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE PORTAL
Last week, sf.citi members joined Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, TJPA Executive Director Adam Van de Water, and downtown leaders for a behind-the-scenes tour of The Portal — San Francisco’s top transit infrastructure priority. Designed to connect Caltrain’s 77-mile corridor and eventually California’s high-speed rail directly into the Salesforce Transit Center, The Portal will deliver transformative benefits across the region.
For the tech community, The Portal represents more than transit — it’s an investment in connectivity, workforce mobility, and economic resilience. As tech companies continue to grow and make their homes in San Francisco, projects like The Portal help support a more accessible and sustainable city where people can live, work, and innovate.
GOOGLE LAUNCHES FREE SKILLS PLATFORM
This month, sf.citi member Google launched its new Google Skills platform — a free hub offering nearly 3,000 courses, labs, and certifications in AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and other in-demand fields. Designed for learners at all levels, the platform supports people looking to grow in, or break into the tech industry. It’s a strong example of how tech companies can create meaningful pathways to opportunity while helping build a more inclusive, future-ready workforce, especially here in San Francisco.
DoorDash’s New Emergency Food Response Program
This month, our friends at DoorDash launched an Emergency Food Response to help address a growing hunger crisis as millions face the potential loss of SNAP benefits. Through Project DASH, DoorDash will deliver 1 million free meals via food bank partners, waive delivery fees for roughly 300,000 grocery orders from SNAP recipients, and donate food from. DashMart locations to support local food banks. As food insecurity grows, this effort reflects how tech can step up with urgency and compassion when communities need it most.
