Membership Exclusive Opportunities

Throughout the year, sf.citi offers its members unique opportunities to familiarize themselves with key issues affecting their company and employees, interact with local leaders in an intimate setting, and expand avenues for future partnerships. We are always piloting new programs and events that bring together industry leaders to discuss and collaborate on the future of San Francisco and our City’s tech community.

sf.citi’s Lunch & Learn Series

At both the state and local level, sf.citi leads the way in advocating for San Francisco’s tech industry by engaging policymakers to collaborate with our members on the most pressing issues facing our community. In 2017, we launched our Lunch and Learn discussion series, which provides sf.citi members with regular opportunities to meet the elected officials who represent them, as well as candidates running for office and other key decision makers in government. These intimate and engaging conversations between sf.citi members and local legislators explore the shared challenges affecting the tech community and the City of San Francisco.

Leadership Roundtables

Mayor de Blasio

Tech is a global industry, so we don’t just stop at San Francisco. By working collaboratively with regions across the country, sf.citi brings you intimate relationship-building opportunities with government and tech leaders from top U.S. cities. These exclusive opportunities provide member companies with a chance to speak directly to decision makers in key cities, helping you expand into new markets and grow your company. sf.citi has hosted roundtables with New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, California Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, and California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, among others. This new area of programming will continue to expand.

Annual sf.citi Members Reception with San Francisco’s Mayor

Near the end of each year, sf.citi celebrates all of the people who make our work possible by inviting our board, member companies, partners, and friends to come together at our Annual sf.citi Members Reception. It has become sf.citi custom to invite our city’s leader to join in the sf.citi Members Reception fun. In 2017, we welcomed Mayor Ed Lee. In 2018 and 2019, we were honored to have Mayor Breed join us in person. And in 2020 and 2021, Mayor Breed joined us virtually to speak about the ever-growing role tech plays in San Francisco and what the industry can do to keep the city moving forward.

sf.citi’s Big Idea Series

In October 2017, sf.citi released its first white paper, “Taxing Innovation: The Challenge of Regulating Job Automation.” As artificial intelligence and automation have already radically changed the way we work, sf.citi called on government and business to collaborate on an appropriate approach to automation in the workplace. In culmination with the paper’s release, sf.citi then brought together a cross-section of 25 San Francisco leaders from the tech, nonprofit, and public sectors to discuss the ideas we prompted in the paper. We convened a panel of distinguished experts across various fields of work, including Roy Bahat of Bloomberg Data, Vikrum Aiyer of Postmates, Laurel Arvanitidis of the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and Abby Snay of JVS Bay Area, to spark an informative and engaging conversation around the future of work. This white paper and policy breakfast will be the first of many more to come.
