“Everyone is Responsible or We All Lose”
In the last edition of our newsletter, we asked you to share your opinion and comments (such as the one above in our title) on how involved tech companies and organizations should be in deciding the moral standard between hate speech and freedom of speech. The sf.citi community spoke, and here’s what you said:
Contentious through and through, this question will not be going away anytime soon. As the director of the Dangerous Speech Project, Susan Benesch explained, “The challenge platforms have is enormous. There is an enormous amount of content. [These companies] have to find a way to moderate content that takes account of a wide range of political and social contexts.”

Welcoming our Newest One City Forum Member, Abby Snay
sf.citi’s One City Forum brings together leaders from San Francisco’s tech and nonprofit industries to educate, raise awareness, and focus on building a collaborative approach to this city’s greatest challenges. Serving as Executive Director of Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) since 1984, and being with the organization for 42 years, we are more than excited to bring aboard Abby Snay’s expertise and nonprofit experience to the Forum. Under her leadership, JVS has grown from a small-budget organization to one that trains over 5,000 individuals. In conjunction with tech companies, JVS is currently working towards closing the skill gaps in the community, and trying to build cross-sector opportunities for all. Abby’s aptitude for the city’s needs and growth will be a crucial asset to sf.citi, and we are absolutely thrilled to have her on the One City Forum.
