Check Out What Some of This Year’s Future Grads Are Up To
As we are in full swing with only two weeks left of the program, we’ve brought you stories from three more of our companies, AdRoll, Techtonica, and the Disney Family Museum. Find out what our Future Grads have been up to below:
AdRoll
Wyzley Louie, Mason Tsai, Shannon Harvey-Marshall, Jenna Liu, and Kirby Tsai are the rockstar Future Grads members interning with AdRoll, an innovative platform for business marketing. Here, the interns are able to work in a range of fields, including solutions engineering, IT, and business development and they’re learning a wide range of skills in the company. For example, Jenna Liu, working with the B2B account management team, produces research reports on AdRoll’s top clients, detailing their parent companies and recent financials. Meanwhile, Shannon Harvey-Marshall, a solutions engineer intern, is learning how to handle any technical challenges with AdRoll’s ads. All interns agreed that they’ve learned how collaborative the tech world is and they emphasized an appreciation for how this has allowed them to absorb so much knowledge. When asked what advice he would give future interns, Mason Tsai, an IT Intern, said to simply “come in and learn as much as you can.”
Techtonica
Sophie Huang and Joshua Chain are both interning at Techtonica, a nonprofit working to bridge the tech gap by training local, underrepresented women and partnering with local companies to find jobs for the women to utilize their new skills. Sophie and Josh work closely with Michelle, founder and CEO of Techtonica, and they both agree that it is inspiring to see how much effort goes into running a nonprofit. By working with her, they have gained insight into what it takes to start a company. Their roles within Techtonica are focused primarily on managing business operations, such as fundraising, outreach, and the company newsletter. Additionally, both interns were given the opportunity to help create the company’s website and gain more experience with coding. Sophie and Josh agree that this is a really unique way to get introduced to the growing tech world and they are excited to use this experience to make a difference in local communities.
Disney Family Museum
Alexa Coleman is a second time Future Grads participant, this time working at the Disney Family Museum with the Education Outreach Department. Alexa speaks enthusiastically about her time working at the museum and about how much she has learned. Most recently she has been working on a slideshow that will accompany Disney historian John Baxter’s presentation about Walt Disney’s support of the war effort during World War II, amongst may other things. As the only intern, she works closely with Antonia Depena-Tretter, School and Outreach Manager, and has been very involved in setting up educational programs for teachers, leading tours, and putting together educational material. We are excited to see what else Alexa accomplishes over the course of the summer!
